Infrastructure project management advisory: common questions
Answers from Global Infrastructure Advisors. Meet our team and explore our published infrastructure experience.
What does GIA's project management advisory cover?
GIA supports coordination and governance of infrastructure development workstreams. The agreed role can include responsibility tracking, programme updates, development expenditure reporting, risk monitoring and escalation of unresolved decisions across commercial, financial and specialist advisory teams.
How does project management advisory differ from construction supervision?
Development coordination organises the studies, approvals, procurement and financing work needed to progress a project. Construction supervision involves separate technical and site responsibilities. GIA's role and its interfaces with engineers and contractors are defined expressly at appointment.
What should a useful project status report show?
A useful report shows progress against milestones, material changes to expenditure or scope, unresolved risks and decisions required from named owners. GIA focuses reporting on actions that affect the programme, rather than treating a list of completed activities as a substitute for decision support.
Can GIA work alongside an existing internal project team?
Yes. Responsibilities are agreed around the client's existing capacity and the assignment's needs. GIA can coordinate particular workstreams or support wider development governance, with a clear division of tasks between the client, GIA and appointed specialists.
